A group of four Dutch handicapped people has entered Nepal from Nepal-China border of Kodari on July 8, 2009 by specially made wheelchairs. This is claimed to be the first time Hand Bike ( Wheel Chair) Expedition of Handicapped people entering Nepal by wheelchair from Tibetan side. The team successfully completed the wheel chair journey expedition from Lhasa to Kathmandu within 15 days crossing 950 km distance. The objective of the Hand Bike Expedition of Handicapped people is to convey the message that the handicapped people also can achieve the feats with strong will power....

CNN International announced the results of its Online Consumer Survey (OCS) on Travel and Tourism which reveals that Thailand was chosen as representing the best value for money for travellers in the Asia Pacific region. The survey conducted across CNN English websites had more than 5,000 respondents globally. Thailand came out as the best value in Asia-Pacific for respondents over China in second place and India in third. Fifteen couples from France and the Benelux countries have tied the knot in a traditional Lanna Thai ceremony held in Northern Thailand as part of a partially sponsored event organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International. Rise in Tourist Arrivals...
According to TIA ( Tribhuvan International Airport), the month of June saw a rise in tourist air arrivals by six per cent .The most encouraging results came from European markets, with an overall positive growth of 25 per cent. Arrivals from UK grew by 15 per cent, while arrivals from Germany, Netherlands, Italy and Norway all posted significant growth of 27, 30, 34 and 17 per cent. Arrivals from China increased by 17 per cent , Thailand 37 per cent and South Korean 55 per cent. Other Asian segments registered a positive growth of 18 per cent. Pashupati gears up for Maha Shivaratri...
Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) is set to observe Maha Shivaratri on Monday. PADT member secretary Premananda Shakya said the trust has allocated Rs 963,000 for the annual fest. “We are expecting 1.5 lakh pilgrims this year. Around 3,000 sadhus, from Nepal and India, will also come,” he said. This time around, the pilgrims’ footfall is likely to go up since the violence in the Tarai has abated. 10th National Open Paragliding Champions...
The 10th National Open Paragliding Championship is going on from February 19 to 21 in Pokhara.The event, which was originally scheduled to be held on January, was postponed to February because of some technical problems, according to the organisers. More than 100 gliders from Nepal and abroad are taking part in the only paragliding championship in the country. Pokhara Regional Chapter of Trekking Agencies’ Association (TAAN) has been organising the championship every year in a bid to promote Pokhara as a fascinating destination for this adventure sport.  Read More →
